Rebuilding and Preserving Local Architecture
Supporting the preservation and appreciation of Perrysburg's historic architectural heritage
Renovation Awards: (program now discontinued)
In past decades, Historic Perrysburg annually reviewed building permits issued by the city for renovation projects within the historic district. Property owners who made improvements (other than routine maintenance) to the exterior of their residential or commercial buildings were recognized and presented with a Certificate of Appreciation.
Historic Perrysburg still believes that one of the attributes that make Perrysburg an enviable place to live is that our citizens take pride in maintaining the appearance of their structures and historic character. An owner doing this encourages his neighbors to do likewise, spreading the practice all over town and contributing to everyone's real estate value.
Preservation and renovation measures recognized include such things as
replacement of decaying windows, doors and porches, major masonry repairs, etc. as well as additions that enhance the livability of the property such as a room addition, backyard deck or an in-ground pool - all of which must be in keeping with the character of the original property.
